A Matchmaker Sent My Profile to a Man I Never Approved—Then I Learned My Dinner Ticket Had Made Me “Available”

Rachel printed the email and the profile summary and laid them side by side on her desk.

She had spent twenty-three years managing conferences, banquets, registration lists, speaker permissions, dietary requests, vendor contacts, and attendee data. She knew the difference between information collected to run one event and information approved for a later use.

She also knew how easy it was to make a person feel petty for insisting on that difference.

Her phone buzzed again.

Daniel.

Sophie just told me there was a consent mix-up. I’m sorry. For what it’s worth, I thought you had actually said yes.

Rachel looked at the printed words Passive / Selective Introductions.

Then she typed the first question she wanted answered.
